A vintage Moorcroft inverted rim bowl in the Anemone pattern by Walter Moorcroft.
The diameter of the bowl is 110mm, the height 32 mm and the weight 207g.
In excellent vintage condition.
Regarding age, it can be difficult to assess with absolute certainty as some production runs could be quite long, and it was not until 1990 that Moorcroft began using year cyphers to show when an item was actually made.
As there is no year cypher on the bowl the latest possible date of manufacture would be c1989.
The large impressed MOORCROFT mark on the base along with the apparent MADE IN ENGLAND mark in upper case suggests an actual date range c1950 to 1986.
The anemone pattern was first designed by William Moorcroft in 1938 and then redrawn by Walter Moorcroft in 1975. Walter Moorcroft retired in 1987 but in 1988 he was invited to redraw the original design, and the new range was issued in 1989.
From the information above and by reference to the design featured here it would be reasonable to assess the age of the bowl as mid 1970's to mid 1980's.
The bowl is clearly therefore of genuine vintage age.
An attractive item which should prove a worthy addition to many a collection of vintage Moorcroft pottery.
