A stunning bronze age period decorated large shield boss.
This item which dates to circa 1800-1200 BC , is in fabulous allover condition.
It has a dome shaped centre ,with six large domed roundals to the outter edge.Around each roundal are two further circles of raised dots in repousse design.
The rear of the shield boss is concave as can be seen ,and the whole item has a wonderful dark green patination to the bronze.
This item would have been one of six or possibly eight bosses which would have decorated the outter face of a war shield.
Ex. Private collection formed in the mid 1970s.
