Antique Victorian Gold Back & Front Locket with Belt & Buckle c. 1880s
We have 1 in stock.
A very handsome late 19th century gold Victorian locket, with a repoussé buckle motif and an etched forget-me-not. Circa 1880s.
The reverse side of the locket shows a Star of David and the initials "GDS".
No hallmarks, but has been tested for gold "back and front" (Meaning the front and back of the locket are thin sheets of real gold, but the insides, fittings and hinge etc, are gilt metal. This was a common technique seen at the time and was used to give the locket strength without using excessive gold).
Inside, there is the original glass and inner ring on one side only. The other side is empty.
Sold with a brand new 9ct gold 18 inch belcher chain If you would prefer to purchase without the chain, just get in touch :)
Very good. Very light general wear. The locket snaps shut well.
The inside is missing glass and inner ring from one side.
