A vintage silver delft brooch typical of the practice of using delft pottery and silver together.
The 'C' catch is stamped 835 (a European silver mark) which can be seen by using a loop glass.
One indication that a brooch is a vintage item is where the pin extends beyond the catch as this was often the case so the brooch could accommodate the thicker materials of the time. Early brooches may also have a simple 'C' catch fastener where the pin sits in the catch without any additional security such as a 'roll over' mechanism. In this case the pin may rely on the material it is fastened to, to stay in place.
The brooch offered here utilises a simple 'C' catch arrangement and might be better suited for a fabric of reasonable thickness rather than a very thin type fabric.
The brooch, including the delft ceramic insert, is in excellent overall condition.
