This extremely pretty and beautifully made Victorian pendant that can also be worn as a brooch completely surprised us when we tested the "amethysts" to discover they were pastes". This makes this piece even more intriguing as we ask ourselves why did the jeweller not use genuine stones. Did the original owners know or did they buy it believing it to be amethysts. Either way this does not distract from its beauty. Measuring 30mm x 24mm not including the 12mm long bail, which can be hooked off when worn as a brooch, the piece is crafted in all 15ct yellow gold and is set with seed pearls and the two purple stones. The brooch fitting is a hinge pin and 'C' catch. Stamped 15 on the back and tested to confirm 15ct gold. Still with its original Victorian 15ct yellow gold 18" belcher chain with push in barrel catch, having the 15ct plaque attached. Gross weight 12.2g. This piece is in fabulous condition.
