A French Infantry Briquet (short sword) dated 1834, with a single-edged curved broad steel blade, with makers mark 'Chaillot' and a date of 1834 @ forte and inspectors stamp on reverse. The solid brass hilt with ribbed grip, single knucklebow and down turned quillon with mark 'V 1837'. The dark brown leather scabbard with brass shape and locket stamped with regiment/sword No 82.
