A superb 1796 Pattern 'Blue & Gilt' Infantry Officers' Spadroon. The single edged straight blade with spear point retains virtually all of its original blue and gilt, with the George III monogram and crown, below which is a very unusual standing figure (see photo). The hilt is of gilt brass with folding shell guard and retains almost all of its original gilding, as well as the very rare original sword knot. The scabbard is of black leather with 3 gilt brass mounts and two suspension rings. A very rare sword in excellent condition.
