A very good quality stuart period large pewter candle stick.
This item which dates to circa 1640s and the time of the English civil war is a rare survivor .
This piece which is of truly majestic proportions has a deep out turned lip and a large trumpet base.
It has a clear makers mark to the base in the form of a fleur de lys .
It has a dark patina to the pewter with areas which are almost black.
This item which was excavated from the river thames foreshore in the 1970s ,and is possibly of Dutch origin.
It likely came to England from Holland when the Royalists purchased weaponry for the cause from Holland ,Germany and the low countries .
The boats which carried these supplies are known to have been unloaded on the thames foreshore in London.
As with all of my antiquities and coins this item comes complete with a certificate of authenticity .
