An absolutely stunning and very rare iron viking battle axe head.
This item which is called a bearded axe ,dates to circa 9th-10th century AD.
The socket is complete and the whole axe is in a solid and fully conserved condition.
It was this type of weapon that gave the vikings their fearsome reputation as seafaring raiders .
Ex. North yorkshire collection 1970s.
As with all of my antiquities and coins this item comes complete with a certificate of authenticity .
